The Magic Mirror belongs to the Evil Queen, who constantly asks it—usually in a rhyming phrase—who is the fairest in the land. When the mirror eventually identifies her young stepdaughter Snow White as the fairest, the Queen jealously tries to have her killed, first via her huntsman, then several personal attempts concluding with a poisoned apple. The mirror is key to her plots; it tells her Snow White's location, and after each attempt, she checks with the mirror and is again told that Snow White remains the fairest. At the very end, when Snow White is married, the mirror tells the Queen that the young queen is the most beautiful. Already knowing from the mirror's earlier answers that Snow White is the fairest, the Queen's jealousy drives her to attend the wedding, where she discovers that the Prince's bride is Snow White. She is caught trying to cause discord, and the Prince has her dance in red-hot iron slippers until she drops dead.

She placed a gloved hand upon the cold frame of the Magic Mirror, whispering an incantation that hummed through the stone floor. The surface rippled like water disturbed by rain, then cleared to show a vision of the desert wastes far away.

There stood He-Man, lifting a fallen boulder to clear a path for the refugees. Evil-Lyn smiled thinly, noting his location with satisfaction. She knew exactly where he would go next, and she had already prepared an ambush at the Canyon of Doom. The mirror dimmed as her spell ended, leaving only her reflection staring back from the dark glass.
